Job Description
The Corporate Accountant I plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for the organization. This position is responsible for executing and reviewing accounting functions including:  supporting month-end close, posting journal entries, creating reconciliations, compliance with sales and property tax requirements, and compliance with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Skills
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), tax requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Assist with consolidation and elimination processes across subsidiaries and legal entities.
  • Support external audit and internal control activities by preparing audit schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, analyze results, and recommend improvements to financial operations.
  • Assist with the implementation and documentation of new accounting standards or company policies.
  • Identify and drive process improvements in accounting workflows and systems.
  • Ability to develop skills to prepare and analyze financial statements.
  • Knowledge of maintaining accurate ledgers, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Experience in managing invoices, payments, collections, and vendor relations.
  • Proficient in preparing components of budgets and financial forecasts for decision-making.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and provide insights for business strategy or cost optimization.
  • Understanding of tax laws, GAAP, and other regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Familiarity with programs such as QuickBooks, Oracle, or Microsoft Excel to maintain and analyze financial data.
  • Understanding tax filing, preparation, and compliance to ensure tax obligations are met accurately.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA license.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite).
